WHERE DO I START?

The Marin County School to Career Partnership connects educators and employers to provide programs that assist in preparing students for college, careers and life. These are some of the services we offer:

  • Classroom Guest Speakers: Invite career professionals in fields related to your coursework into your classroom to present specific curriculum-related material, discuss career pathways and opportunities in related fields or to just connect coursework to work-related applications.

  • Workplace Visits: Assist with identifying and organizing student/classroom field trips to local employers to promote coursework relevancy and career planning.

  • Job Shadows: Create opportunities for you and/or your students to spend half a day with professionals in a field of their interest to observe their work and make inquiries about career pathways and opportunities.

  • Internships: Match students with local employers for a semester-long workplace learning opportunity during which they can explore a profession, gain valuable work skills and re-enforce the relevancy of their classroom education. Students will be eligible to receive academic credit for this activity.

  • Professional Development: Provide opportunities for teachers to explore work-based curriculum, make contacts with other professionals and access academic and occupational-related subject matter. This could include teacher job shadows, workshop attendance, industry curriculum review or other related activities.

  • Classroom/Project Advisors: Connect an industry representative with a teacher to assist with a specific classroom project or general class activities throughout the year.

  • Industry Advisory: Identify local industry representatives to advise schools regarding new program development, industry standards and trends, technical assistance, professional development opportunities, and other services.

Contact your SCHOOL TO CAREER LIAISON for more information or to take advantage of these services.
