School to Career Spring Semester Programs and Events
Job Shadow
Days for Middle School Students:
From late January through February,
a series of student job shadow events will be held. The focus is on
middle school students who are hosted as job shadows in a wide range
of businesses and organizations.
February through March 2010
Spring
Internship Program: The
Spring Internship program provides an 8-week intensive career
exploration opportunity requiring students to spend 6 hours per week
on the worksite with a mentor. These internships are recommended for
juniors and seniors. Elective academic credit is available.

Marin County
Sheriff Youth Academy: The
Youth Academy is designed to provide Marin youth with hands-on
training to promote an interest in law enforcement as a future
career. The Academy combines hands on learning with classroom
participation during the Spring Internship Program.
February 23 – April 23, 2010
Youth Health Forum:
Students interested in the healthcare
professions learn about possible career paths and opportunities at
presentations by doctors, nurses and other healthcare professionals,
and participate in a behind-the-scenes tour of various hospital
units. Attending this event is a prerequisite to a hospital-based
internship.

Kaiser Permanente
Architecture,
Engineering and Construction Job Shadows:
The School to Career Partnership, in conjunction with the Marin
Builders Association and the Regional Occupational Program, presents
comprehensive job shadow opportunities to high school students
interested in architectural, engineering and construction-related
fields.
April 2, 2010
Career
Days: Alternative
Education high school students throughout Marin County are
introduced to groups of experts who will provide them with
information about diverse career opportunities.

Summer
Internship Program: The
Summer Internship program provides an 8-week intensive career
