Programs and Events
Fall
Internship Program: The Fall Internship program provides an
8-week intensive career exploration opportunity requiring students
to spend 6 -9 hours per week on the worksite with a mentor. These
internships are recommended for juniors and seniors. Elective
academic credit is available. Student applications are due
September 14, 2007.

Youth Health Forums:
Students interested in healthcare professions learn about possible
career paths and opportunities at presentations by doctors, nurses
and other healthcare professionals and participate in a
behind-the-scenes tour of various hospital units. Attending this
event is a prerequisite for a hospital-based internship.

College of
Marin Careers in Industrial Technology Day
High school
juniors and seniors join the instructors and students of the
Industrial Technology Department at the of the College of Marin’s
Indian Valley Campus for a day of hands-on experience of all aspects
of the program.

Architecture, Engineering and Construction Job
Shadows: The School to Career Partnership,
in conjunction with the Marin Builders Association and the Regional
Occupational Program, presents comprehensive job shadow
opportunities to high school students interested in architectural,
engineering and construction-related fields.

Law Career s Day 2007: The
School to Career Partnership, in conjunction with the Marin Bar
Association presents a day at the Marin Civic Center with students
of government, social students, and law promoting careers in law,
public safety, criminal justice, and government.

Grammy in the Schools Career Day:
This music industry career day held at San
Francisco State University is sponsored by the Grammy Foundation.
Students are introduced to careers in all aspects of the music
industry including performance, technical and creative production,
business management and advertising.

Job Shadow Events: From
late January through February, a series of student job shadow events
will be held. The focus is on middle school students who are hosted
as job shadows in a wide range of businesses and organizations -
from County of Marin offices to hotels, to dental offices

Buck Institute Job Shadow Day for High School
Students: This event provides high school
students a valuable opportunity to see inside this unique research
facility. Summer internships are available at the Institute.

Cesar Chavez Day: Latino
and Latina high school students are invited to a county-wide event
sponsored by the Marin County Board of Supervisors and the Marin
County Civic Center. Students join a roundtable discussion with
Marin County Civic Center employees sharing life experiences and
career paths.

College of Marin Latino / Latina Awareness Day:
Latino and Latina students are invited for an introduction to
college, classes and careers. Students will tour the campus,
student services and visit classes.

County Sheriff ‘s Youth Academy: The Youth
Academy is designed to provide Marin youth with hands-on training to
promote an interest in law enforcement as a future career. The
Academy combines hands on learning with classroom participation
during the Spring Internship Program.

Safety Careers / Emergency Preparedness Training:
Through Teen CERT (Community Emergency Preparedness Training)
Program, high school students can become certified members of the
response teams at their schools and in their communities when a
disaster or an emergency strikes. Students interested in public
safety careers participate in a behind-the-scenes look at public
safety agencies.

Career Days: Alternative
Education high school students throughout Marin County are
introduced to groups of experts who to introduce them to diverse
career opportunities and discuss the steps to follow to pursue their
interests.
